West Mercia Police confirmed the mother-of-four's body was found on Monday in undergrowth near her home.
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after Mr Hughes' body was found in Church Hill in Redditch.
Supt Jane Horwood, from West Mercia Police, said: "Two men have been arrested on suspicion of the murder of James Hughes and are currently helping police with their inquiries at Kidderminster and Redditch police stations."
An area has been cordoned off and a post-mortem examination was under way to establish the cause of death, Supt Horwood said.
Arrangements are also being made for formal identification.
During the search for Mr Hughes, police said he had the mental age of an 18-month-old and required "round the clock care".
His mother left home on Friday, saying she was going to visit a friend nearby.
Police have said it was not clear when Mr Hughes was last seen.
His mother was found on Monday with a ligature round her neck.
