There were 45 tragic cases last year, compared with 38 in 2006. The total number of accidents in the sector decreased to 5,189 from 5,622. The situation remained the same in transport where there were 21 fatal accidents at work last year and also in 2006. The number of bad injuries fell from 77 to 69 and the number of other injuries sank from 3,729 to 3,293. Inspectors made 13,228 controls last year. They checked 12,566 companies and businesses and found 46,366 shortcomings. They imposed fines worth Kc32.61m. A total of 3,235 fines worth Kc29.085m have already come into force.
