British Prime Minister Gordon Brown says his Labour Party will have to make some changes after its poorest showing in municipal elections in more than three decades.
Speaking at his residence at No. 10 Downing street, Brown blamed poor economic conditions for the outcome of the elections. According to preliminary results, the opposition Conservatives captured 44 percent of the nationwide vote, while Labour was relegated to third place with just 24 percent, behind the Liberal Democrats. The results from the London mayoral contest are expected early Saturday. With nearly half of the constituencies declared Conservative candidate Boris Johnson is leading against incumbent mayor Ken Livingstone.
