Germany's highest court has ruled that the participation of German troops in reconnaissance flights over Turkey in the 2003 Iraq war was unconstitutional.
The decision will strengthen the decision-making role of German parliament over sending troops abroad. The court said the deployment of German crews to man the aircraft should have had prior approval by the German Bundestag.
