Grebenicek said he informed current party head Vojtech Filip of his decision in writing. Grebenicek was nominated for chairman by a KSCM regional branch.
He originally planned to announce his decision at the congress. He told CTK today he would not even attend the congress. Filip will try to defend his post. Three party colleagues are to run against him - MEP Miloslav Ransdorf, and deputies Stanislav Grospic and Sona Markova. Grebenicek said young people should lead the party. Apart from the party leader, it will also elect five deputy chairpersons. The delegates will approve the party programme for the next four years.
