Nato denies Georgia and Ukraine ... has been marred by violence in ethnic Albanian areas, prompting the European Union's chief diplomat Javier Solana to call for re-runs in affected electorates. Macedonian police say one person was killed and two others were wounded when a patrol responded to gunfire in Aracinovo, a village near Skopje.
Another shooting, outside a polling station in Skopje's Cair neighbourhood, left one person in critical condition and five others wounded. Police said they arrested at least 10 people. Sunday's snap election was called by incumbent Prime Nikola Gruevski in a bid to secure a majority after his conservative coalition was shaken by a failed bid to enter NATO. Turnout was put at 46 percent. Slavic Macedonians make up 65 percent of the population.
