Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith called Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe's presence at the Rome summit "obscene". Britain also criticised Mugabe's rare foray out of Zimbabwe saying he was responsible for food shortages in his native country. Mugabe is usually subject to a European Union travel ban over his human rights record - but he is able to attend UN forums.
