Before the conference started, Germany's Development Minister Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul announced additional programmes to combat poverty and hunger. Speaking on German public broadcaster, ZDF, Wieczorek-Zeul said her ministry would strengthen its agricultural aid in developing countries.
