German citizen held by US forces as terror suspect ... Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has confirmed the kidnapping of two German citizens in Nigeria.
He told reporters in Berlin that the two men were employed by a German construction company that has been active in Nigeria for many years. They were kidnapped on Friday by gunmen who stormed a compound run by an affiliate of the German firm. Steinmeier said that the foreign ministry's crisis unit is working to clarify the reasons behind the kidnapping and to bring the Germans back home, unharmed, as quickly as possible.
