Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir has rejected an accusation by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, which says that he is is directly responsible for genocide in that country's Darfur region. Officials with a joint United Nations/African Union peacekeeping mission in Dafur have said that they fear the announcement could spark retaliation. They have announced plans to evacuate around 3,000 non-essential police and civilian staff from the country.
