Italian police arrest clan members linked to Duisburg shootings ... around K2 have prevented a Pakistani army helicopter from attempting to airlift a stricken Italian climber off the world's second-highest mountain on Tuesday, following a climbing disaster that left 11 others presumed dead.
The 37-year-old climber, who reached the summit on Friday before an avalanche struck, is suffering frostbite but managed to reach a camp at 6,000 metres on foot. Of the 11 people presumed killed, some fell to their deaths, others froze, and some simply went missing with no chance of survival. More than 70 people have been killed on K2, many on their way down from the 8,611 metre summit.
