The swearing in of Zimbabwean lawmakers has begun as parliament convened for the first time since elections in March.
The opposition Movement for Democratic Change says two members were arrested as they entered parliament to be sworn in. Police said they were seeking seven other opposition members. The MDC said the move was a bid to reverse the party's unprecedented majority, ahead of a parliamentary vote to elect a new speaker. The opposition won the most legislative seats on March 29, and is trying to negotiate executive power sharing with President Robert Mugabe. Power-sharing talks mediated by South African President Thabo Mbeki stalled earlier this month.
